Swim Team - Coaches 2017

Head Coach - Rory Perry

Rory rejoins PVRA after working in school administration. He worked as a pool director and head coach for PVRA from 2001-2010. Rory was an All-American and a full-scholarship swimmer at Fordham University, earning All-Conference by placing 2nd at the Atlantic Ten and East Coast Athletic Conference Championship Meets. He was also the captain of the Fordham University Rams in his senior season. Rory's successes in the pool translated into equally impressive successes in his coaching career. He has led numerous high school teams to runner-up performances at States. Rory has superior knowledge in the area of stroke development and technique.

Rory has the professional expertise to challenge our most experienced swimmers and teach our most novice all four strokes and most importantly, develop a LOVE FOR SWIMMING and healthy respect for the water. Rory is a firm believer in the importance of in the water instruction, one-on-one attention, and developing a training regimen that meets the needs of each individual. The proof is in the pudding for us at PVRA. When Rory first started, the swim team was .500 and an average Recreational Team. By the end of his third season, the team was undefeated and many of our swimmers began to pursue the sport in a year round capacity. Swimmers that Rory has taught at PVRA have gone on to celebrated swimming careers, some of whom even earned scholarship money. Those PVRAers that did not purse the sport in a year round capacity also developed proficiency in the sport and learned the value of teamwork, hard work, dedication, and team spirit: all qualities/character traits that Rory takes pride in ensuring ALL athletes and the team develop.
